How Responsible is Luxury?

Luxe-Mag.Com | November/December 2009

As luxury consumers that are adept with technology, we’ve all become smarter, savvier and confident. We have also become more responsible with our consumption habits and now particularly pay more attention to ethical and environmental issues linked to our purchases. This is reflected in our choice of brands and our devotion to certain products. If we hear that a jewellery brand is involved in unethical mining practices we are more likely to react. If a luxury brand shows us that it is contributing to protecting the environment we’re more likely to be endeared to the brand. But are luxury brands really committed to making a positive difference to the wider society by being responsible? Do you think that luxury brands are involved in responsible practices are genuine or are using it as a publicity stunt? Does this make a difference to you? We would love to hear your opinion!
